SAFTA LICENSE CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN
SAFTA License is a certificate issued by DGFT to the exporters of India. SAFTA certificate is required at the time of export to show the country of origin of the goods.
SAFTA stands for South Asian Free Trade Area. It is a trade agreement between the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to encourage and enhance mutual trade and economic cooperation among the member countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. A SAFTA certificate is issued to certify that a product meets the rules of origin criteria for SAFTA and is eligible for trade benefits under the agreement.

Importance and Benefits of SAFTA certificate

Its mandatory for exporters to create certificate of origin and to attach with export invoice to avoid any shipment problem. SAFTA certificate proves the origin of goods imported in any country.

Types of Certificate of Origin
Preferential Certificate of Origin:
Issued to declare that the goods qualify for preferential treatment under specific trade agreement or preference program.
Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin:
It simply certifies the origin of the goods without entitling them to preferential treatment. Issued for countries that do not have preferential trade agreements.
